Grande Prairie RCMP responded to a theft in progress Friday morning just before 11:30 at a downtown business on 100 Avenue.
A man entered the business with a bandana covering his face, smashed a glass display with an axe and attempted to take jewellery.
While trying to flee on foot, the alleged robber bear sprayed three store employees but dropped the items he had taken.
With assistance from Police Dog Services, RCMP tracked the man to Muskoseepi Park where he was hiding and took him into custody.
Terry Hickey, 34, faces seven charges and will appear in court October 16, 2017.
Charges Hickey faces include:
– Assault with a weapon X3
– Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose X2
– Breach of Recognizance
