The province is proposing that 18 be the minimum age to use cannabis once it becomes legal next summer.
Marijuana could be sold through government-run stores or through private operators, but Alberta hasn’t decided on which one.
Justice Minister Kathleen Ganley announced the proposed rules in Calgary today.
Over the next three weeks, Albertans will have a chance to give feedback while the legislation will be introduced in the coming months.
The government has plans to not include cannabis in the same stores that handle liquor, tobacco or pharmaceutical drugs.
