With municipal elections slated for October 16 across Alberta, an open house was held for County of Grande Prairie Council candidates Wednesday night.
It was organized by the Grande Prairie and District Chamber of Commerce.
CEO Dan Pearcy says it is important to have these types of things for residents.
“Making sure that they understand what issues there might be out there, and the concerns that they have. And also get to know them a little better and where they’re coming from, so there’s a better communication channel. It’s an opportunity to develop communication channels, inform the politicians and just get informed (yourself).”
Roughly 50 people walked through the doors at Centre 2000.
“It was a little light. This was something new that we were trying,” said Pearcy.
Some of the bigger topics discussed were roads and snow removal.
Advance polls for voters in the County go October 7 and 14 from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m.
