An Alberta senator originally from Sexsmith has chosen a local recipient for one of the Senate of Canada’s 150th Commemorative Medals.
Senator Betty Unger has 13 to give out to recognize the volunteer spirit of Canadians and Clyde Blackburn is one of them.
“In particular, Canadians who volunteer for everything at the local level and yet have not been recognized by some other award.
She goes onto say “the volunteer spirit is alive and well in Grande Prairie.”
The official medal presentation ceremony will happen next month in Edmonton.
