Peace Officers will be out reminding drivers in the month of October that pedestrians have the right of way at marked and unmarked crosswalks.
Sargent Ryan Hoffman says they will be focusing on pedestrian safety.
“How they are going to do that is they will be attending locations where there is a higher density of pedestrians on the roadways. So this could be in the downtown area, as well as parks and schools. ”
He says there is a possibility that officers will be on foot to do their pedestrian safety patrols.
Blowing through a crosswalk while someone is waiting to cross can cost you 776 dollars in fines and four demerit points.
