Alberta is following in British Columbia’s footsteps when it comes to filling up the gas tank. New legislation goes into next June which will have all drivers in the province pay in advance before they gas up.
It is for the safety of staff at gas stations, according to Labour Minister Christina Gray.
Stores will have to install pay-at-the-pump technology which costs $30,000 per pump. There will be an optional method for retailers which would have customers leave a deposit or credit card before filling up.
