After months and months of construction, Grande Prairie's third fire hall is almost ready to start servicing residents.

Deputy Fire Chief Janine Blackburn says while they're not in full operation just yet, there is a presence at the facility.

"We have our recruit class of eight new firefigthers there that are currently in the midst of their training. They'll be finishing up by May 18, which will coincide with us moving in," she says.

The department has scheduled two open houses (May 25-26) to give the public a chance to check out the new digs. At this time, the new name of the fire hall will be unveiled.
