Piranhas Swim Meet This Weekend

Apr 27, 2012

The Grande Prairie Piranhas kick off a swim meet today, the first 50 metre event to be held in the Swan City.

Meet Manager Kevin Willsey says being able to have it at the Eastlink Centre opens doors to more meets in the future.

"We'll host a 25 m one in the fall and another 50 m in the spring. The advantage is that we can race here rather than having to travel outside the province," he says.

If you'd like to go watch, the kids start at 3 p.m. today and finish up at 7 p.m. The rest of the schedule is as follows:

Saturday: Preliminaries 8 a.m.-11:30 a.m., with finals between 5 p.m.-7 p.m.

Sunday: Preliminaries 8 a.m.-11 a.m., with finals between 2 p.m.-4 p.m.
