Jason Kenney has been picked as the new leader of Alberta’s Progressive Conservatives.
The former federal Conservative cabinet minister collected three-quarters of the vote from delegates on the first ballot at the party’s convention in Calgary on Saturday, to defeat Richard Starke and Byron Nelson.
Kenney ran on a promise to dissolve the P-C’s and unite Alberta conservatives under one banner.
He is expected to meet on Sunday with board of directors from the Alberta PC party to start mapping out a merger with the Wildrose party.
