Numbers skyrocketed at this year’s Western Chuckwagon Association tarp auction.
Sales were up to $339,350, in comparison to $199,800 last year.
This is a good sign as the tarp auction is often an indicator of how the local oil and gas sector is feeling.
Derek Aebly and Dean Dreger received the highest bids for their tarps in each auction.
The highest bid of the evening was Northern Mat & Bridge at $12,500 to advertise on Dean Dreger’s tarp at the TP Creek Stampede.
The Calgary Stampede also held their auction last night. Kelly Sutherland, 12-time champ, received the highest bid of the night for his wagon. It came in at $110,000. Total sales in Calgary were $2.4 million.
