The National Day of Mourning is set for Friday in Grande Prairie at Safety City.
The ceremony will begin at 10:45 a.m., with a moment of silence at 11 a.m. for those who lost their lives or suffered a traumatic experience or injury on the job.
Grande Prairie and Area Safe Communities Chair Donna Kulba says people should always take safety precautions on the job.
“A reminder to everyone, you know how important it is to be aware of your surroundings in your work area and following a best practice to make sure that your new hires receive the education and training they need to do their job and that everybody conducts those hazard assessments daily.”
A proclamation will be done by Mayor Bill Given. Refreshments will be held after the ceremony.
