World class horse trainer Robertino Diodoro (pictured) will be training a pair of horses this racing season out of Evergreen Park.
He says he’s always been a huge supporter of what are often referred to as “B tracks”.
“It gives the horses a second life. A lot of horses that can’t make it on the ‘A tracks’, and bigger tracks, if there wasn’t ‘B tracks’ who knows what could happen to them. It gives them another chance, a second career. It’s kind of like in hockey where if you can’t make the NHL there’s an American League, there’s an East Coast League, etc.”.
He went on to add that he’s looking forward to coming to the Peace Country and passing on some of his knowledge.
“I always compare a horse to an athlete,” he said. “It doesn’t matter how much talent an athlete has, if he’s not happy and soured, they don’t perform to their best. Horses are the same way. You’ve got to keep a horse healthy and happy, and they’ll perform for you.”
Diodoro also trains horses at several other locations including in California, Norhtlands Park in Edmonton, Belmont Park in New York, Canterbury Park in Minnesota and Prairie Meadows Racetrack in Iowa.
He has over $25 million in winnings over his illustrious career.
