National Aboriginal Day is today and the local Friendship Centre is celebrating.
Executive Director Miranda Laroche says their event will begin at 5 p.m. with a proclamation from the city.
“Which they do each year, we will have opening remarks from the National Association Friendship Centre vice-president Kelly Benning, MLA (Debbie) Jabbour will be here to do a presentation and then opening remarks from myself and Joseph Redhead, our president.”
That will be followed by a free supper and a talent contest.
She says today is when all Canadians can celebrate the Aboriginal heritage.
“It is a day for all Canadians to recognize and celebrate the unique heritage and diverse cultures of First Nations, Inuit and Metis people across Canada.”
