The search continues for Al Smith (pictured), a man in his 60’s, who went missing after his canoe capsized on the Smoky River.
It happened on June 10 at 7 p.m. not far from the Riverstone Golf Course.
Local Technical Search and Rescue, RCMP and Air Services have conducted numerous searches in the area, however, high water levels and unstable terrain halted the search at points. Air and boat rescue efforts are continuing on the river today.
It’s being requested that the public stay out of the area until the search is complete.
Anyone who believes they have helpful information in regards to the search is asked to contact Grande Prairie RCMP at 780-830-5700 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
