Temperatures are expected to continue to rise over the long weekend, which will increase the wildfire hazard.
There are no new or active wildfires in the Grande Prairie Forest Area.
The area is also not under any sort of fire ban or advisory.
So far this season there has been 23 wildfires in the Grande Prairie Forest Area burning a total of 4.86 hectares.
Provincially, the 2017 wildfire season has seen 603 fires burn a total of 2,812.67 hectares.
Wildfires can be prevented by exercising caution in forested areas, removing debris from off-highway vehicles and ensuring that you have built a safe and manageable campfire that is completely extinguished before leaving left unattended.
If you can still feel heat coming off the ashes it is not extinguished, so remember to soak it, stir it and soak it again.
