On August 25, the third annual New Horizon Co-Op Glow Fun Run/Walk is taking place at Muskoseepi Park.
The event, which runs from 8 p.m. until midnight, supports the Grande Prairie Regional Hospital Foundation and costs $45 for adults and $10 for children.
Dawn Miller, Senior Development Officer with the Grande Prairie Regional Hospital Foundation, says race goers will be able choose between a 3K and a 5K route.
“And we have fun events along the route where you can go through areas with glow balls and glow stuff, lights, all sorts of fun things. So, you can either do the three or a five,” said Miller.
Miller says the event is lots of fun as they also have face paint, stickers and Zumba before the event to get everyone warmed up.
“When you come back from the run/walk, we will have Amanda (with Hula Hoop Circus) there, and they will have the glow hoops and they’ll be doing some performing and entertaining for the crowd,” said Miller. “We have a DJ, we have a photo booth, so it’s a lot of fun and great for the family.”
Even though the event gets underway at 8 p.m., Miller advises people to show up early.
“You know, if people wanted to come down and participate in a few things, get a picture in the photo booth. We’re usually ready to go by 7 p.m., and we encourage people to come a little bit early.”
A BBQ is included in your registration fee, which is why they ask you to register in advance, but Miller says they will also be taking registration at the event.
If you wish to enjoy the entertainment and BBQ without participating in the run, you can still go and access the BBQ by donation.
