The Grande Prairie Public School District is reminding drivers to slow down in school zones by creating the School Zones in Effect Facebook profile picture frame.
“This campaign is important to us, because Grande Prairie is a busy community and construction is taking place throughout the city. We have introduced a personal Facebook Profile Picture frame for people to use to help spread the word that we would like to see ZERO school zone speeding tickets issued this fall. We are thankful that to date our frame has been used by over 400 people, including our Mayor, Trustees, and others, who share in our commitment to keeping students safe” said, Sandy McDonald, Superintendent of the Grande Prairie Public School District.
Board Chair John Lehners says the district thought this would be a good way to get the message out.
“Our Board is committed to providing safe and caring environments that allow our students to succeed. The support of our community to help keep our students safe while they travel to and from school safely is really appreciated.” said School Board Chair, John Lehners. “Including the 18 schools in GPPSD, there are close to 30 school zones across Grande Prairie and everyone needs to remember them as the new school year begins.”
Students go back to class on Tuesday and school zone speed limits will be back in place.
