A local drama production is being canceled due to lack of volunteers. The Lantern Tours would have been celebrating their 19th anniversary this fall. The tour is made up of short skits held in the Heritage Buildings at the Grande Prairie Museum.
Culture and Heritage Programming and Events Coordinator Robyn Termeer explains that it is a joint effort between Grande Prairie Regional College’s Drama Department, the GP Museum and the South Peace Regional Archives.
“In the past, students from the drama program wrote, coordinated and acted out the skits that made up Lantern Tours. We met with the new Drama Instructor this month, but there just wasn’t enough time to put the event together for October.”
Michelle Rois recently took on the position as Drama Instructor at the GPRC.
Although the event won’t be a go this year, Termeer says there are plans to look at future collaboration for 2018.
