The city is providing money for people to accomplish some goals in the arts.
Richelle Richardson, Administrative Supervisor of Culture and Heritage, explains that there are two facets of funding available. There is Arts Development Scholarships as well as Arts Development Individual Project Funding.
“It is to really help our arts and culture people in town. A lot of places don’t support their artists, like we hear the term struggling artists, and this gives us an opportunity to showcase what they can do.”
Each amount is for about $1500 to $2000.
Richardson says the funding available for individual projects can be used for things like musical instruments.
“Anyone that is an artist and has an idea can apply. They must have a budget laid out. This is so we know what the funds are for and what they are doing with it. Last year, a gentleman that is teaching drumming applied for funds to bring in more drums.”
For those applying for the scholarships, they have to be attending an accredited program.
