The Community Foundation Northwestern Alberta’s Nourish the North is back for another year.
The foundation’s Tracey Vavrek says this year’s special guest is The Second Cup co-founder Frank O’Dea.
“He was at one time homeless and he was a panhandler on the street and he went through some big challenges in life.”
She adds “the reason for that type of story this year is, again, nourishing. Each of us in our community has gone through the ups and downs of the economic climate … you know the concerns we’ve had around how we are going to be able to feed our families and look after our community.”
The annual event is a fundraiser and Vavrek says they are hoping to raise $80,000 funds that will be used to help multiple groups and agencies in and around Grande Prairie.
